- Firstly, cook 1 cup toor dal, 1 cup rice, 1 teaspoon turmeric, and 1 teaspoon oil in a pressure cooker.
- Add 3 cups of water and pressure cook for five whistles. Keep aside.
- In a large Kadai, heat 2 tbsp oil, 2 tbsp ghee, and sputter a teaspoon of mustard, 2 tbsp peanuts, and a few curry leaves.
- Add ½ onion and other vegetables and saute slightly.
- Boil well with 1 1/2 cups of tamarind extract.
- Combine 3 tbsp of our Bisi Bela Bath masala with 1 tsp chilli powder and 1 tsp salt.
- Stir in cooked rice-dal, 1 tsp salt, and 2 cups water, adjusting the consistency accordingly.
- For 10 minutes, cover and simmer until the flavours are well absorbed.
- Pour in the fried cashews and mix well.
